EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT VISCOSE RUGS & CARPETS

Viscose Rugs , often known as rayon, is a man-made fabric manufactured by treating cellulose with carbon disulphide and sodium hydroxide. Shirts, curtains, coats, area rugs, and dresses are all made of rayon. It is cool to the touch and does not trap heat. Viscose may be dyed in virtually any hue. For a more durable and appealing rug, viscose can be blended with wool and cotton. Wool and viscose blend rugs are widely available. Another option is viscose and chenille blend rugs, which are less stain resistant and durable than wool blends.

Viscose is a flexible fibre with the same comfort features as natural fibres. It is frequently dubbed art silk or bamboo silk because of its actual silk-like qualities. It can mimic the appearance and texture of wool, cotton, linen, and silk, though the latter is more commonly used in carpets.

Avoid placing viscose carpets in high-traffic areas since they shed rapidly. Take care not to spill anything on these rugs. When water or other substances are spilled on viscose, it becomes yellow. Yellow spots on a viscose rug are most likely the result of a spilled drink or too much moisture in the room.

Pros and Cons of Viscose Rugs

Viscose carpets are available in an almost infinite variety of shapes, sizes, colours, and patterns. They range in price from roughly Rs. 1500 to 26000 at Azara Home online rugs & carpet store, so you should be able to locate a few rugs that meet your budget and style preferences. Rayon area rugs can be used both inside and outside, but they must be kept dry. Sunroom rugs, enclosed porch rugs, and gazebo carpets are all great choices.

Because viscose is a delicate fabric, it’s not appropriate for a busy household with frequent visitors, dogs, or small children. For single folks or young, pet-free couples on a budget, viscose area rugs may be a better option. If viscose rugs are too delicate for your needs, consider synthetic fibre rugs such as nylon, polyester, or polypropylene.

How to Take Care of Viscose Rugs

When liquids are spilled on Rayon, it loses 50% of its strength. A viscose rug that has been exposed to a lot of spills and foot traffic may fall apart. Use a viscose area rug as a wall hanging or store it somewhere where it won’t be damaged by foot traffic or spilt drinks. Water-based cleaners should not be used on a daily basis.

Turn your viscose rugs face down to dry to keep them from yellowing during cleaning. Cleaning solutions containing vinegar or acetic acid are more likely to turn rugs yellow. Keep your viscose rugs out of locations with high temperatures. The fibres may degrade if exposed to too much heat. Although dry cleaning is a possibility, it may not be able to remove all stains from a badly stained rug.

Clean difficult stains with a mixture of white vinegar, a mild detergent, and water when necessary. Apply the foam to the stain at the top of the mixture. Using a damp, clean white cloth, blot the area dry. For common stains, use a gentle cleanser.

Place viscose carpets in a cool, dry location at all times. The viscose fibres shrink when exposed to heat. Clean dirt and debris from a viscose rug with a carpet sweeper. If you must use a vacuum, turn off the beater bars and use a low setting.

Viscose Rugs Examples

Azara Home houses a good collection of viscose or viscose blend rugs at a very competitive price range.  The most popular styles are contemporary and transitional, but there are others, including tropical, distressed, shabby chic, & Persian all made of viscose or mainly viscose.

Despite the fact that most viscose rugs are small or medium-sized, this fabric is used to make a lot of runners. While viscose carpets don’t hold up well to heavy foot traffic, viscose runners can be used in an upstairs hallway or any other area with moderate foot traffic. If family members walk over the runner in slippers or soft-soled shoes, it should endure a long time. A viscose runner can be used in a den or family room as long as it is kept dry and foot traffic is kept to a minimum.

The majority of viscose carpets are either machine-made or hand-tufted. A tufting gun punches strands through a sheet of cloth to create a hand tufted viscose rug. Handcrafted and hand knotted viscose rugs are very popular as they are highly durable and with a high aesthetic value. Hand hooked, braided, and flat woven viscose carpets are also available on a number of online rugs & carpets stores in India.

Grey, ivory, brown, and beige are the most popular colours for viscose carpets. Green, blue, and multi-colored rugs are less common, although they are still widely accessible. Subdued tones are common in reds, pinks, purples, and oranges. Wool & viscose blends are commonly used in multi coloured and non-neutral rugs.

If you want a rug that will last for a long time, viscose might not be the greatest option but it is a great substitute to pure silk carpets that are exuberantly expensive. So, if you love to keep changing your home décor every 5-7 years, hand knotted viscose rugs are just right for you. Viscose area rugs excel in every aspect of a rug, including colour selection, pattern, size, comfort, and price range. Unless you only intend to put rugs in high-traffic areas, there’s no need to exclude viscose rugs from your shopping list.
